Description:
The prince abbots of Fulda extended the original Renaissance palace, between 1706 and 1721, into a vast and elaborate Baroque palace designed by Johann Dientzenhofer. The Stadtschloss (town palace – they had lovely summer residences outside the town as well) served as the main residence of the abbots until it came into the hands of the counts of Kurhesse, after forced secularization in the early-nineteenth century.
