Description:: Seligenstadt is up river from Frankfurt on the south bank of the Main. The main sight is the former abbey but the old town has some fine half-timbered buildings too.The huge former abbey has a history dating back to Charlemagne’s time. It was enhanced during the 11 and 13th centuries with a Baroque conversation following at the end of the 17th century. The lovely monastery garden was recently restored.
