Description:
Picos de Europa is an amazing set of mountains and valleys, which met and surpassed my growing expectations about the place. It stretches for several autonomous regions – Asturies, Castilla y Léon and Cantabria – and the landscape seems to “evolve” from stony and sterile mountains to green and watery slopes.Legend says that the mountains were named by the fishermen that, when returning home from the high sea, knew they were almost arriving when they had a glimpse of the high peaks.Picos de Europa is “surrounded” by paved road, making it possible to encircle the park by car. However, this paved road is long and winding and it won’t only be a daytrip for sure. Also, there are a few paved roads that allow visitors to reach some must see points in Picos de Europa:- Covadonga and the Lakes, leaving from Cangas de Onís- Fuente Dé (and the cable car) leaving from PotesThe inner park must be explored on foot, following the paths.
