Description:: Barca d'Alva is a village situated by the River Douro and bordering Spain. It was an important village concerning railroads: the Douro trains used to come this far and there were also trains from Spain to this village. Nowadays, the trains are no longer working and some infra-structures decayed.Neverthless, the bridge seen on the photo still brings some visitors, who arrive by car. Boat is also another means to arrive here. The cruises in River Douro are getting more popular day by day (and also more and more expensive!) and some routes include coming this far as Barca d'Alva.Both the road and the river provide breathtaking landscapes for those who travel in this area of the country.
